      • Seaborne LPG trade stood at 91mm. tons in 2016.
      • LPG trade accounts for the largest cargo traded on LPG vessels with a share of 73%.
      • Production of LPG is dominantly in the US and the Middle East. US export volumes most of which are directed to Asia are the key driver of
LPG trade growth. In the Middle East and with the lifting of sanctions, countries like Iran, have increased LPG trade. Iran currently accounts
for 17% of LPG trade in the Middle East and this is expected to grow to 40% by 2020.
      • China is estimated to be the major demand pull of the LPG market towards 2020, but we also see other markets where LPG demand is rising
such as Japan, India and South Korea. China’s demand is driven by the PDH plants coming into operation while India’s, by government’s
initiatives to enhance LPG penetration to rural areas.
      • Petrochemical gases accounted for 15% of LPG traded volumes in 2016. Petchems are expected to add vessel demand growth both via
      volumes and distances.

Stealthgas pens sale and leaseback agreement for LPG carrier
Stealthgas said that it has entered into a sale and leaseback agreement for one of its vessels, and concluded five new charter arrangements.

The company entered into a sale and leaseback agreement for the 7,517cbm, 2001 built, LPG carrier Gas Cathar in the fourth quarter of 2014. The proceeds from the sale of the vessel are $14.3 million and net proceeds after debt repayment are approximately $7 million. The company will continue to operate the vessel and entered into an agreement to bareboat charter back the vessel for four years.

Stealthgas also concluded five chartering arrangements, namely a one-year time charter extension for its 3,434 cbm, 1991 built, LPG carrier, Gas Ice, to an established owner-operator, a one-year time charter for its 5,000 cbm, 2011 built, LPG carrier, Gas Myth, to a European oil major, with a charterer’s option to extend for a further two years.

The company also concluded a three-month time charter extension for its 3,500 cbm, 2014 built, LPG carrier, Eco Corsair, a three-month time charter for its 5,018 cbm, 1997 built, LPG carrier, Gas Monarch and a three-month time charter for its 3,500 cbm, 2015 built, LPG carrier, Eco Lucidity, to an international trading house starting with the delivery of the vessel in January 2015.

With these charters, Stealthgas has contracted revenues for its fleet of approximately $220 million. Total voyage days of its fleet are 65% covered for 2015 and 31% for 2016. Seven vessels are currently operating in the spot market.

      von ValueWalk:

StealthGas Inc. (NASDAQ:GASS) meanwhile, has a tanker fleet that primarily serves the liquefied petroleum gas segment of the industry. It sports 40 LPG tankers that carry items like propane, butane, butadiene, isopropane, propylene, and vinyl chloride monomer. StealthGas also has three product tankers and one Aframax oil tanker in its fleet.

The company recently agreed to acquire 17 LPG carriers with expected deliveries ranging from 2014 to 2017, and also conducted a stock offering of 3.5 million shares to help pay for the ships. The stock could be considered cheap by value investors, at less than 60 percent of book value.
