Allerdings weiss man nicht was

Macau - Las Vegas in China (EurAmS)

Melco-PBL name its 6-star Casino-Hotel Project
“Crown Macau”
* * *
(Hong Kong, Aug 25, 2005)--- The luxurious 6-star casino-hotel project being built by Melco
International Development Limited (“Melco” or the “Group”, HKSE Code: 200) and its
exclusive Pan-Asian joint venture partner, Australia’s Publishing and Broadcasting
Limited (“PBL”), will be named “Crown Macau”.
Located on the island of Taipa, and constructed at a projected cost of HK$1.5 billion, Crown
Macau will be the first 6-star casino-hotel project in Macau. The casino is scheduled to open in
the second half of 2006 and the full project will be completed in the first half of 2007.
The joint venture partners intend to operate Crown Macau drawing on the marketing expertise
and the strong brand name of the Crown Entertainment Complex in Melbourne, Australia.
The Crown Entertainment Complex, owned by PBL, is one of the world’s leading casino-hotel
resorts specialising in the premium leisure and hospitality industries.
Crown’s marketing strengths will be combined with Melco’s undoubted local expertise in the
gaming and leisure industries in Hong Kong and Macau.
Mr Lawrence Ho, Group Managing Director of Melco, said, “Branding is very important in
our business, particularly in view of the fact the majority of our potential customers is expected
to be Mainland Chinese, who are extremely brand conscious. Crown Melbourne’s appeal to
Mainland Chinese cannot be overstated. Having our Macau hotel managed with the
expertise of PBL will guarantee that the same high standard of service and product offered at
Crown in Melbourne can be offered to our VIP patrons in Macau. In addition, substantial cross
marketing and cross referrals will be made possible between the two destinations.”
Mr Ho said the hotel component of the casino-hotel project was originally to be managed by
the Hyatt Group under the Park Hyatt brand name.
Mr James Packer, Chairman of PBL, said that he was delighted to be taking the Crown
brand to Macau. “Macau is the world’s most dynamic gaming market, and we are excited
about the opportunity to work with our partner Melco to develop a first class casino hotel that
sets new standards of quality in the market.”
“Crown has many loyal customers in North Asia and we look forward to offering them the
same high standards of accommodation and service at Crown Macau that they receive at
Crown in Melbourne.” Mr Packer said.
Targeting high rollers and big spenders from all over the world, Crown Macau will also
embrace various entertainment facilities, including a number of elegant and unique
restaurants and a luxury spa center. Standing tall at 160 metres, it will be the highest building
on Taipa Island. With a total construction area of 106,000 square metres, the casino-hotel will
comprise 227 deluxe VIP guest rooms, of which 26 will be VIP suites and 8 will be presidential
villas.
Spacious and set in luxurious décor, the 32-storey complex will include a 6-storey up-market
casino with a total gaming space of around 17,000 square metres, housing 200 gaming tables
and over 1,000 slot machines.

Sehr interessant was die Vorgänger schrieben.
Bis bald.

wenn du längere zeit drin bleiben möchtest, dann lies mal folgende ( zwar schon ein paar tage ältere news):
Deutsche Bank values Melco International Development (0200) at$12.3, which includes $6.3 for Crown Macau, $5.4 for Cotai and $0.6 for Mocha Slot.<b> //das sind honkong-dollar aktuell noch um die 8.8
The brokerage said that Sands` third-quarter results demonstrated continuous mass market growth but also highlighted emerging competition in the VIP segment. Melco has come off on weaker-than-expected market growth for the third quarter. The brokerage sees slow third-quarter growth as temporary and expects strong growth to resume from the second half of 2006 with new casino openings. Deustsche Bank also expects Melco to re-rate strongly in early 2006.
Shares of Melco are trading on 11.5x 2007 prospective earnings, which is at a 30-40% discount to Wynn & Las Vegas Sands, said Deustsche Bank.
The bank estimates the net profit after tax to be $449.5 million for 2005, $259.2 million for 2006 and $949.3 million for 2007.

http://www.melco.hk.cn/doc/english/e_200ann_20060317.pdf
Gut möglich, dass Lawrence Ho hier seinen Einfluss (u.a. größter Shareholder..)

Mocha Slots maintains its goal of opening two to three new casinos each year, he said.

He also said that Melco's gearing ratio at present before any new project is healthy and acceptable, and that the City of Dreams project is progressing satisfactorily and is expected to start operation in the second half of 2008.

PRESSEINFORMATION
BOOMTOWN MACAU – LAS VEGAS ASIENS

Melco vom Handel ausgesetzt. Weiß jemand warum?
Antwort auf Beitrag Nr.: 23.826.354 von Thamm am 08.09.06 16:35:44Deshalb wahrscheinlich: Von über 50 Mio € Plus zu rund 3 Mio € Minus in einem Jahr ...
Melco (0200.HK [News / Quote]) may fall 1-2% in line with market downturn, but likely won't react much to posting 1H loss of HK$29 million vs profit of HK$534.2 million last year. Loss due to one-off writedown of assets, absence of disposal gain which bolstered last year's earnings. Results largely irrelevant with Melco still to open 1st casino complex. More important is Melco giving less than emphatic statements on opening of Crown Macau, 1st casino complex; said it's 'scheduled to open in April 2007,' reiterating previous statements, elsewhere says less specifically 'it is expected to commence operations in the first half of 2007', which could be further delay. Market now worrying it may be joining Macau casino party late. Stock fell 2.3% to HK$18.36 yesterday. (JOG) Contact us in Hong Kong. 852 2802 7002; MarketTalk@dowjones.com
und weiter
Melco (0200.HK [News / Quote]) suspended; company only says ahead of price-sensitive information. But follows report in HK Economic Times its plan to spin-off casino JV with PBL (PBL.AU) on Nasdaq has hit snag; HK stock exchange listing committee says Melco's remaining assets (small catering, technology businesses) may not be profitable enough to keep HK listing status. Failure to complete Nasdaq spin-off could leave funding shortfall for JV's 2 big Macau casino complexes, plans for 3rd. Company just reported 1H results after market close yesterday, swung to 1H loss of HK$29 million vs profit of HK$534.2 million last year.(JOG)

Melco (0200) JV clears Australian regulatory hurdle
2006/09/08 11:29
(Infocast News) Melco International Development Limited (0200) said on August 29, its joint venture partner, Publishing & Broadcasting (PBL), received formal approval from the Victorian Commission for Gambling Regulation and the Gaming and Wagering Commission of Western Australia to the joint venture with Melco. This clears the remaining regulatory hurdle in Australia for the joint venture and signifies the endorsement of Melco's good standing by Australian gaming regulatory bodies doubts concerning PBL's legality in its Macau ventures.
The granting of the subconcession to PBL Entertainment (Macau) Limited (PBL Macau) (a special purpose company set up to hold the gaming license) is expected to be approved by the Macau Government in early September. Subject to completion of the remaining standard legal procedures, Melco PBL, in which Melco has a de facto interest of 50%, will be able to instantly enjoy 100% of the economic benefits of its Macau gaming business.
Trading in the stock of Melco has been suspended since this morning.
According to the Memorandum of Agreement with PBL, the venture will pay $7.02 billion to Wynn Macau on the grant of the subconcession.
Meanwhile, Melco disclosed in its interim report that the group spent approximately $393.33 million in respect of the hotels and entertainment complex under development in Macau. Also, the group spent approximately $34.864 million on purchase of gaming machines for the expansion of its electronic gaming business. Melco said that the company's cash and cash equivalents of the group totaled $3.189 billion. The gearing ratio was at 24%.
As to the progress of casino, Melco said Crown Macau is scheduled to open in April 2007. The development of City of Dreams took its first step towards realization upon the groundbreaking ceremony held on April 10 this year. The development is expected to take around two years with completion scheduled in the second half of 2008. In addition, the group has recently unveiled a third casino project, to be sited on the waterfront of the Macau Peninsula on which a mass-market oriented casino will be built to cater for the day-tripper market. This acquisition is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2007.
Melco has swung in loss in the first half of this year, with loss attributable to shareholders amounted to $29 million for the first six months of 2006, versus a profit of $534.2 million a year ago. This change is primarily due to the absence of a gain of $514.4 million from disposal of partial interest in subsidiaries which was booked in the first half of last year.
Mocha Slots currently operates over 1,000 machines in various locations across Macau, capturing around 31% of the total slot market revenue in Macau for the period under review. For the period under review, revenue and operating EBITDAR increased to $85.9 million and $39.3 million respectively, and running 6 venues (around 1,060 machines) in the first half of this year.
APPROVAL OF MACAU GOVERNMENT FOR GRANT OF
MACAU GAMING SUBCONCESSION
CLARIFICATION OF PRESS REPORT AND
RESUMPTION OF TRADING
Approval of Macau Government for grant of Macau gaming subconcession
The Company is pleased to announce that PBL announced today that it has signed a gaming subconcession agreement with Wynn Resorts (Macau) for
the grant of a Macau gaming subconcession to a subsidiary of PBL, that the requisite approval of the Macau Government has been obtained and that the
consideration of US$900 million for the grant of the subconcession has been paid to Wynn Resorts (Macau). The gaming subconcession permits the
subconcession holder to operate casinos in Macau. A further approval from the Macau Government is expected to be granted later this month, allowing
the ownership of the company holding the gaming subconcession to be transferred to the Company’s gaming joint venture with PBL. Upon completion
of that transfer, as described in the Company’s shareholders’ circular dated 30 May 2006, the Company and PBL will participate in all present and
future projects and businesses of the gaming joint venture, including the gaming subconcession, on a 50:50 basis.
Clarification of press report and resumption of trading
A confidential hearing of the Listing Committee of the Stock Exchange was held on the afternoon on Thursday, 7 September 2006 to consider an
application by the Company under Practice Note 15 of the Listing Rules for a separate listing of the Company’s Macau gaming joint venture. Approval
of that application by the Listing Committee would have permitted the separate listing to take place as early as calendar year 2006. Before the outcome
of that hearing had been notified to the Company or its advisers by the Stock Exchange, a report appeared in the Hong Kong Economic Times on the
morning of Friday, 8 September 2006 to the effect that the Company’s application had not been approved by the Listing Committee. In order to avoid
confusion and a further uneven distribution of information in relation to the Company, the Company considered that it was in the best interests of its
shareholders to request a short suspension of trading in the Company’s shares. The Company was ultimately informed by the Stock Exchange in the
afternoon of Friday, 8 September 2006 that the Listing Committee had not approved the Company’s application under Practice Note 15 for a separate
listing of the Macau gaming joint venture. The Company will exercise its right under Listing Rule 2B.06 to have the decision of the Listing Committee
reviewed. In the event that the review is unsuccessful, the Company may make a new Practice Note 15 application after considering the financial
results of the group for the year ending 31 December 2006, with a view to listing the Macau gaming joint venture as soon as practicable. Having said
that, there is no certainty that a separate listing will be completed and, accordingly, shareholders and investors should bear this in mind when
dealing in the Company’s shares. In the meantime, the Company will continue to actively consider, in conjunction with PBL, a number of alternative
or complimentary financing options in connection with the gaming joint venture (including but not limited to an issuance of debt securities by the joint
venture). Further announcements will be made as and when appropriate.
In view of the impending announcement, on Monday, 11 September 2006, of the grant of the Macau gaming subconcession referred to above, the
suspension of the Company’s shares was continued for that day. Application has been made by the Company to the Stock Exchange for resumption of
trading in the Company’s shares with effect from 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, 12 September 2006.
Approval of Macau Government for grant of Macau gaming subconcession
On 9 March 2006, Melco International Development Limited (the “Company”) announced that it had entered into a Memorandum of Agreement with its
joint venture partner, Publishing and Broadcasting Limited (“PBL”), relating to the grant of a Macau gaming subconcession to a subsidiary of PBL and the
subsequent transfer of the company holding that gaming subconcession to the gaming joint venture carried on by the Company and PBL. Those transactions
were approved by the Company’s shareholders at a shareholders’ meeting held on 16 June 2006.
The Company is pleased to announce that, as contemplated by that Memorandum of Agreement, PBL announced today that it has signed a gaming
subconcession agreement with Wynn Resorts (Macau) for the grant of the gaming subconcession and that the requisite approval of the Macau Government
has been obtained. Under the terms of the agreement with Wynn Resorts (Macau), PBL has paid US$900 million to Wynn Resorts (Macau) as consideration
for the gaming subconcession. As referred to in the Company’s shareholders’ circular dated 30 May 2006, the consideration has been provided as to an
amount of US$160 million by the Company, an amount of US$240 million by PBL and the balance of US$500 million by third party bank financing. The
gaming subconcession permits the subconcession holder to operate casinos in Macau.
A further approval from the Macau Government is expected to be granted later this month, allowing the ownership of the company holding the gaming
subconcession to be transferred to the Company’s gaming joint venture with PBL. Upon completion of that transfer, as described in the Company’s
shareholders’ circular dated 30 May 2006, the Company and PBL will participate in all present and future projects and businesses of the gaming joint
venture, including the gaming subconcession, on a 50:50 basis.
It is not anticipated that any further gaming concessions will be issued in Macau in the near future and, accordingly, the grant of the gaming subconcession
and its expected transfer to the joint venture will be a significant milestone in the development of the gaming business of the joint venture.
Clarification of press report and resumption of trading
At the request of the Company, trading in the Company’s shares on The Stock Exchange of Hong Kong Limited (the “Stock Exchange”) was suspended
with effect from 9:42 a.m. on Friday, 8 September 2006. The Company voluntarily requested a suspension of its shares following the appearance of a
report in the Hong Kong Economic Times on the morning of Friday, 8 September 2006 relating to the Company. That report stated that the Company’s
application to the Listing Committee of the Stock Exchange (under Practice Note 15 of the Listing Rules) to permit the separate listing of the Company’s
Macau gaming joint venture had not been approved by the Listing Committee. The Company also received several telephone calls from shareholders and
others asking whether the report was accurate.

See ya

That's it...

Hongkong/New York 21.12.06 (emfis.com)
US Dollar in die Kasse.

Adds, catalysts over next 3-6 month for stock include 'emerging upside potential' from agreement recently signed between its 38%-owned US-listed Macau casino operator Melco PBL (MPBL), consortium of junket operators, aimed at promoting MPBL's Crown Macau's high-rollers gambling business, says deal likely to generate incremental annual EBITDA of US$68 million for MPBL. 1121 [Dow Jones] Melco International Development (0200.HK [News / Quote]) down 4.3% at HK$12.44, likely hurt by 38%-owned Macau casino operator Melco PBL's (MPBL) 3Q net loss of US$45.2 million, vs US$7.7 million year-earlier; U.S.-listed MPBL attributed widening 3Q losses to start-up cost for Crown Macau casino, fully operational at end of July after opening in mid-May, lower than expected winnings casino made from high-rollers' wagers. Still, Melco International shares likely to find support at HK$11 level near term, helped by MPBL's plan to re-engineer Crown Macau into one catering to high-rollers, transformation expected to be completed by Dec. 1.
