"FUTURE TECH", Robotic Exoskeleton Turns Korean Workers Into Ironman, This suit helps out with the heavy lifting
      www.popsci.com/node/135770/?cmpid=enews081414&spPodID=020&sp…

"The South Korean company Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering is trying out something new: equipping workers with robotic exoskeletons. Workers are only testing prototypes for now, but future shipbuilders might strap on exoskeletons as easily as they don hard hats.

The exoskeleton fits workers who are between 5 feet 2 inches and 6 feet tall. It weighs almost 62 pounds, but thanks to its hydraulic joints and electrical motors, the suit supports itself. It has a three-hour battery life and can help workers lift up to 66 pounds.

Daewoo's lead engineer on the project says they ultimately want a suit that can carry 220 pounds, to turn the taxing task of moving heavy objects into almost effortless work. There are other hurdles to overcome–for example, the suit is hard to use on slopes or slick surfaces. If the suit can overcome those challenges, there's a bold future of wearable robots ahead. "

The quality of this list is due in large part to our marketing team which is constantly culturing new stories either on their own or with the help of our partners. They are able to do this for two reasons: The Ekso story is extremely compelling and we are driving adoption. You can expect us to continue these press updates on a quarterly basis - we look forward to sharing new media coverage on the growing interest in wearable robotic exoskeletons and how Ekso Bionics is helping people to walk again.

      Thanks,
      Nate

„Ich warte weiter an der Seitenlinie.
      Keine Kaufempfehlung.“

REX Bionics - "one giant leap for mankind" - Jun 17, 2014

      - REX Bionics (RXB) has developed a world's first: a Robotic EXoskeleton, or REX, that offers spinal cord injury victims a chance to walk. The potential markets for REX are huge: there are 2.7m wheelchair users in the US (50% of which are caused by spinal cord injury) and a similar sized market in Europe.

RXB IPO'd in May 2014, successfully raising £10 million gross (at 180p), giving the company the resources to market to the rehabilitation market: the company launched its device for this audience (REX Rehab) earlier this year, and with the funds raised, will now be launching a marketing campaign focusing initially on the US and European rehab markets.

The company also has plans to roll out a 2nd-generation Personal REX device for home or workplace use (REX 3 Personal) in the latter half of 2016.

Our DCF analysis of a successful commercialisation of REX suggests a business that could potentially be valued at up to £40m, against the current market cap of £26 million ...-

SoldierSocks Foundation Donates Ekso Bionics(TM) Suit, to VA Boston Healthcare System; Wearable Robotics "to Help Veterans With Hemiplegia & Paraplegia Get Back on Their Feet" - Apr 24, 2014
      http://finance.yahoo.com/news/soldiersocks-foundation-donate…

"STAMFORD, Conn., April 24, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- SoldierSocks, a non-profit foundation focused on helping veterans, announced today that VA Boston Healthcare System (West Roxbury campus) is the next recipient of an Ekso Bionics(TM) suit (EKSO). The Ekso GT(TM) will help injured veterans walk again. VA Boston serves over 500 paralyzed veterans in the northeast region and will accept the suit in a donation ceremony on April 30, 2014 at 9:30 am with a special appearance from SoldierSocks' first Ekso recipient, veteran Dan Rose who will walk in an Ekso device.

The SoldierSocks Foundation, run by long time military supporter Chris Meek, has evolved from sending socks and baby wipes to soldiers on the frontline to helping veterans take their next steps back at home. SoldierSocks announced in December that, through grants and fundraising, they would donate 10 Ekso suits to VA hospitals by the end of 2014. Public response has been overwhelming and nationwide donations supporting this initiative are part of what makes SoldierSocks' second donation possible. For more information on how to support SoldierSocks please visit www.soldiersocks.com

"Every day, members of the military put their lives on the line to help protect our country," says SoldierSocks co-founder Chris Meek. "When they return home, they are faced with the challenges of re-acclimating to civilian life. Additionally, some have been critically wounded or paralyzed in the line of duty. We are honored to help our veterans take their next steps on American soil using Ekso Bionics technology."

Adds Ekso Bionics co-founder and corporate executive officer Nate Harding; "given the growing support we are able to provide the US military for able-bodied exoskeleton applications, including US SOCOM's TALOS program, being able to work with SoldierSocks to help injured veterans rehabilitate is incredibly satisfying. The work that Chris Meek is doing on behalf of SoldierSocks is impressive and we are glad to be part of it."

      About SoldierSocks

SoldierSocks was founded in 2009 to provide basic necessities such as baby wipes, socks and sunscreen to American soldiers fighting for our country in the trenches of Afghanistan and Iraq. As more of our soldiers return home to the U.S., SoldierSocks continues to assist our nation's heroes in re-acclimating to civilian life by offering scholarships for colleges and trade schools and offering paralyzed soldiers an opportunity to gain mobility outside of a wheelchair.

Kessler Foundation, a "global leader in rehabilitation research", Selects Ekso GT(TM) for Pilot Study on Robotics in Mobility, Research to Focus on Neuro-Rehabilitation +Gait Training Among Stroke Population - Apr 10, 2014
      http://finance.yahoo.com/news/kessler-foundation-selects-eks…

"RICHMOND, Calif., April 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Ekso Bionics Holdings, Inc. (EKSO), a robotic exoskeleton company, announced today that Kessler Foundation, a global leader in rehabilitation research, has purchased a second exoskeleton, the Ekso GT, to be used in a new study examining the effectiveness of wearable robots for neuro-rehabilitation and gait training. Kessler Foundation is one of the first organizations to integrate the most recent evolution of this technology, which will be used solely to study its efficacy for patients with hemiparesis who are less than three months post-stroke.

Karen Nolan, PhD, research scientist in Human Performance & Engineering Research and Mooyeon Oh-Park, MD, assistant director of Stroke Rehabilitation Research for Kessler Foundation, are in charge of the pilot study. The study plans to enroll 10 stroke inpatients from Kessler Institute for Rehabilitation to study patterns of mobility and gait parameters before using Ekso GT, during use and after use. They will measure several items including spasticity, range of motion and levels of assistance required in adults 18-75 years old.

"We're seeing that robotics in rehabilitation are having an increasingly positive impact on patient outcomes, and research such as this is key to furthering such progress," said Rodger DeRose, president and CEO of Kessler Foundation. "Exploring Ekso GT in the stroke population is an exciting new avenue for our mobility researchers."

Kessler Foundation has used Ekso Bionics' previous generation exoskeleton for clinical research in patients with spinal cord injury since October 2011. Melissa Pullia, PT, ATP, clinical manager for Ekso Bionics, will work with Kessler's clinical team to integrate the newest device by training their physical therapists and researchers on new technology features which provide utility and efficacy specifically for stroke survivors. Today marks the completion of the first round of training, an additional week of comprehensive training will commence in May.

"We're proud of the success Kessler has achieved with use of their Ekso among their patients with spinal cord injuries over the last two years," said Melissa. "Continuing to build on their clinical program by bringing Ekso to their stroke population is exciting. There have been notable preliminary findings and we are looking forward to helping them collect the data to quantify them."

Ekso Bionics designs, develops, and commercializes exoskeletons, or wearable robots, which have a variety of applications in the medical, military, industrial, and consumer markets. Exoskeletons are ready-to-wear, battery-powered robots that are strapped over the user's clothing, enabling individuals to achieve mobility, strength, and endurance not otherwise possible. Ekso Bionics' lead product, EksoTM, is a wearable bionics suit that enables individuals with any amount of lower extremity weakness to stand up and walk over ground. Ekso is forging a new frontier in rehabilitation for people living with the consequences of stroke, spinal cord injury and other neurological conditions affecting gait.

      About Ekso Bionics

Since 2005, Ekso Bionics has been pioneering the field of robotic exoskeletons, or wearable robots, to augment human strength, endurance and mobility. The company's first commercially available product called Ekso has helped thousands of people living with paralysis take millions of steps not otherwise possible. By designing and creating some of the most forward-thinking and innovative solutions for people looking to augment human capabilities, Ekso Bionics is helping people rethink current physical limitations and achieve the remarkable.
