The Desjardins Takeaway
While BBD has been a stellar performer within our coverage (+70% ytd), we believe
there is further momentum given management’s execution and the still attractive
valuation vs peers (5.7x our EV/2025 EBITDA forecast, a 44% discount vs the average for
ERJ, GD, TXT and AM). Following BBD’s investor day, we now have greater confidence
around the sustainability of FCF generation, which should lead to an investment-grade
credit rating, shareholder distributions and further multiple expansion
Highlights
S&P and Moody’s both upgrade BBD’s credit rating (to B+/B1). S&P upgraded BBD’s
credit rating to B+ from B, maintaining a stable outlook (on the heels of Moody’s
upgrade to B1 on May 2). Both mentioned that they could upgrade BBD again if gross
debt to EBITDA is maintained below 4x (we currently forecast BBD reaching this level
in 4Q). S&P forecasts gross debt to EBITDA for BBD of ~4.2x in 2025 (we view this as
conservative and currently forecast 2.7x at end 2025).
Industry feedback from EBACE and Cirium reinforces our positive stance on the bizjet
cycle. Speaking at EBACE, JETNET creator Rollie Vincent categorized the overall market
as “rebalancing” but indicated that there is still a shortage of recent-vintage pre-owned
aircraft. According to JETNET, total pre-owned bizjet inventory as a percentage of the
fleet was 7.1% at the end of March, well below what would be considered a normal
level (11–14%). We also recently attended a Cirium bizjet webinar where the Challenger
350/3500 platform was noted to have good pricing stability (oldest Challenger 350 on
the market (20-year) is still worth 20%+ vs pre-pandemic); it was also noted that the
pre-owned super-mid-size market has yet to enter a normalization phase.
Small-cap publicly traded fractional provider Jet.AI announces funding secured for
Challenger 3500 order. JTAI announced the arrangement of debt financing related
to the proposed purchase of Challenger 3500 aircraft valued at ~US$280m based on
today’s list prices (executed non-binding letter of intent to acquire five aircraft, with
deliveries beginning in 2026).
Valuation
Increasing our target to C$143 (from C$102) as we roll our valuation forward to our
2025 numbers. Our target is now based on an EV/EBITDA multiple of 8.25x on our 2025
EBITDA forecast of US$1,629m. We assume an exchange rate of C$1.37/US$1.

Analyst Benoit Poirier maintained a Buy rating on shares of the Canadian business jet manufacturer.
S&P upgraded Bombardier's credit rating on Tuesday, following an upgrade from Moody's on May 2.
"While BBD has been a stellar performer within our coverage (+70% year to date), we believe there is further momentum given management's execution and the still attractive valuation versus peers," Poirier said in a note to clients.
"...We now have greater confidence around the sustainability of free cash flow generation, which should lead to an investment-grade credit rating, shareholder distributions and further multiple expansion," the analyst said.

Led by HENSOLDT for the German armed forces, the PEGASUS signal intelligence (SIGINT) system will be integrated on the Bombardier Global 6000 aircraft, the optimal platform to complete these critical missions. As part of this program, Bombardier was tasked with the foundational modification work package, collaboratively working with Lufthansa Technik Defense, who will complete the system integration at its special-mission centre in Hamburg, Germany. The first aircraft has now rolled out from the Bombardier Defense modification line in Wichita and is being prepared for the start of ground testing and for the subsequent flight. The remaining two aircraft are undergoing modifications in Bombardier's facility.

In June 2021, HENSOLDT was awarded the contract to supply an airborne system for electronic signals intelligence on board three Bombardier jets based on its "Kalætron Integral" system, which collects and analyzes military signals from radar and radio systems. Since that award, HENSOLDT, Lufthansa Technik Defense and Bombardier have collaborated closely on a joint design activity. At the end of 2023, HENSOLDT's overall mission system design successfully passed customer acceptance. More recently, extensive structural modification work has been performed to prepare the first aircraft at Bombardier Defense's U.S. base in Wichita, Kansas, which houses an important contingent of the company's experienced and skilled defense workforce. This will also be the site of the initial ground and flight test activities. Upon completion of initial testing, each aircraft will be transferred to Lufthansa Technik Defense's facilities in Hamburg for further integration work.
The overall program is valued at over one billion euros. HENSOLDT is acting as general contractor and bears overall responsibility for the realization of the project. Lufthansa Technik Defense will act as a subcontractor, procuring the modified aircraft from Bombardier and fitting and integrating the reconnaissance system developed by HENSOLDT into the platform. Many small and medium sized enterprises from all over Germany, Canada and the U.S. are involved in the project as part of the supply chain for all companies bringing Pegasus to the finish line.

Man kann es halt zzt. überhaupt nicht einordnen, wollen sie so schnell es geht bis u über 100, oder versuchen sie mal auf diesem Niveau Stabilität rein zu bringen?
Aber egal, so oder so gibt es für die Zukunft nur eine Richtung, ja genau, nach OBEN, die einzige Frage, wie lange dauert diese Entwicklung und wer sagt uns eigentlich, wann Schluß ist? 2027 mit einem Kurs von 200 oder 2030 mit 400??
Es gibt kein Unternehmen wo ein Aktienkurs eine Zeit lang gestiegen ist und dann auf diesem Niveau Jahrelang gleich bleibt, es werden irgwann halt auch wieder schlechtere Nachrichten kommen, oder größere Investitionen, dass wird dem Kurs dann nat. beeinflussen, aber grunds. wird diese Fa. in Zukunft Kohle verdienen und weiter wachsen...
Und die Schulden, darüber brauchen wir gar nicht nachdenken, das erl. sich von selbst...

Bei 3,4,85 C$ sollte aber der Boden gefunden sein, dann noch ein paar Tage 📈📉📈📉, dann kann es wieder einen Angriff auf die 91/92 geben, das wär RICHTIG GESUND für die weitere Entwicklung!!!
